Eclipse Turns 5!

"One event is rapidly approaching for our beloved Eclipse"

Arthur Ryman's Eclipse Blog

The gurus at Gnu point out that the "free" in "free software" is used in the sense of "free use" rather than "free beer". Turns out that they need to expand this meaning to include actual "free beer" at selected points in the lifecycle of many Open Source products. One such event is rapidly approaching for our beloved Eclipse. The cute little tyke is turning five on November 7, 2006, and the Eclipse faithful are being cordially invited to imbibe free beer all over the world. To find the closest bash near you, consult the Eclipse 5th Birthday Parties page at Eclipse Foundation. If you don't find a party close at hand, volunteer to host one. I personally will be hosting a party for the Toronto community. BTW, don't let the venue of Unionville fool you. Unionville is a 5 minute drive from my home location, the IBM Toronto Laboratory , where many Eclipse projects, including Web Tools, TPTP, EMF, and Platform, have component teams. I hope to see some of you at the Toronto party. To anyone else, "Happy, Birthday!"
